Review: Baffect Woven Cotton Rope Basket

Oh, I have to say I'm running into some problems these days. It’s about my 6-year-old daughter Monna. I was so happy for her growth and I love watching her run around. But now, I realize I got a little “beast” in my house. Monna always scatters her toys and books about so I have to pick them up again and again. I discussed this with my sweetheart Taylor, and we've decided to teach Monna to do her room.

Finally we bought Baffect Cotton Rope Basket, so today we will review it together. Baffect household products are compatible with IKEA. First things first, we're going to learn about its details.

— Details —

This product is called Baffect Large Cotton Rope Basket and it's a storage basket mainly for kids. I received my package of 2 baskets 4 days after I placed the order. They were folded when we received them, and are available in two colors, gray and pink. I'm very happy because these two colors fit the different decoration styles of the different rooms in our house.

Each basket is made from natural cotton rope, which is chemical-free and skin-friendly, featuring excellent softness without irritating smell. This texture is safe for babies and kids, and scratch-free to floors or walls.

It is woven with rows of cotton rope around it, with thin threads connecting the bottom and sides. The touch of cotton rope is very skin-friendly, similar to that of ordinary clothes.

As it's a basket that stands, we need to make it stand up by ourselves. I filled it with stuffing and then ironed it. Sure enough, the wrinkles disappeared and it now makes a perfect storage basket.

We can see that the bottom is a circle of cotton rope, and the whole storage basket is woven from the bottom. It's amazing. It's really handy that we can fold it up again when we're cleaning up or when we don't need it for a while.

The dimensions of the standing basket are 32cm(12.6in) by 32cm(12.6in) by 37cm(14.6in), and it weighs 1005g. It may seem a little small, but just enough for kids.

Six pompoms in total are attached to the exterior of each basket. Three white pompoms and three pink pompoms on the gray storage basket, while two white ones, two gray ones and two pink ones on the pink basket.

— How to make the basket round and stand? —

At first I struggled with how to make it round to stand up. I tried to unfold it but failed. Thankfully, Baffect has a thoughtful reminder on the website, and I followed the instructions to make the basket round. So let me tell you what to do.

First, I opened the folding basket, and then folded up heavy clothes or blankets and filled the basket with them.

Next up, I ran the iron back and forth to remove the wrinkles on the side and bottom. In this step, we don't need to take the stuffing out.

Lastly, I just put it for 2 to 3 days. After taking the stuffing out, I got a round basket.

— What to look for in kids' storage basket? —

There are stroage baskets on the market with all sorts of materials and sizes, which dazzles me really. After consulting lots of information and comparing products, I summed up the most suitable one for children. There are many factors to consider when choosing a storage basket for a child. Let's see!

Material is the most important point because the basket is mainly used for children. So safety first. The material should be skin-friendly and non-irritating, not too hard or sharp to accidentally scratch the child. I have canvas fabric baskets at home. I used to love the canvas basket for its durability, but the prints on the canvas baskets are all chemical and not safe for children. They're thin and easily scratched. Stability is also relatively poor, easy to be knocked down.

Then the volume, especially the height, should be suitable for children. The best storage basket for a child should be above or below the child's knee.
