Review: Baffect Thermal Coffee Carafe-- the Best “Coffee Mate”

Bonjour, guys! Welcome to our blog! I’m Bucky from the Baffect group. Today we are  gonna review the Baffect Thermal Carafe.

As you know, I'm a father of a six-year-old child. I share housework and childcare with my wife Taylor. We have the habit of drinking coffee every day. A good cup of coffee can keep us full of energy. We drink at least four cups of coffee a day, and it's easier to brew them all at the same time. I have been troubled by the poor heat preservation of my old thermal teapot because the flavor of coffee is closely related to temperature. We need a well-insulated coffee pot to keep our coffee delicious. 

After carefully selecting, we chose the Baffect Thermal Coffee Carafe. So let’s learn about the details of it first of all.

—Details—

I ordered a Baffect Thermal Carafe online and received the package three days later. The package was pretty complete and was wrapped in a kraft carton. When opening it, we saw a gray and white box. On the front and back, there were simple drawings of the insulated coffee pot.

On the side, there is the information about it. There are posters and slogans on the opposite side, saying Taste the fashion, live a good time.

I removed the packaging box and the plastic stuff from the carafe. Finally, we saw the whole picture. The thermal carafe has a capacity of 1000ml (34oz), which is the right size to hold four to five cups of beverages. It uses double vacuum insulation and retains both heat and cold.

The height of the thermal carafe measures 9.6in and the bottom diameter measures 5.35in. The opening is 1.57in in diameter, which is a relatively small one. The whole carafe weighs 0.6kg, which is very light. 

The whole shell and lid are made of polypropylene (PP) material. The exterior is of good quality and thick enough to support the liner.

Look at the red liner. It amazed me! The red glass vacuum liner is more unique than I had ever seen. 

This thermos is equipped with a handle. The material of the handle is beech wood. You can see the clear wood grain on it. 

It comes in black and white, both of which are very attractive. I bought the black thermos because it is more in line with the decor of my cooking table, though I think the white one is also very nice. If you like the simple light color style, you definitely should try it.

— How to check your thermos? —

After receiving the goods online, I always check whether there is any quality problem. It's a good habit. I happened to have some tips for checking whether the thermos is intact. Here's how I did it.

First, check if there is any obvious damage on the thermos overall. I examined the thermos and it was intact.

Second, check if the liner is intact. I unscrewed the lid on the bottom. To begin with, I checked the vacuum vent on the bottom of the liner. It's right there as you unscrew the bottom lid. It was in pretty good condition, which means the vacuum layer is intact.

Then I checked throughout the liner to make sure there were no visible cracks. Besides, I even tapped the liner gently with my fingers and the sound was clear. This is another practical way I think you may learn from to find out any invisible crack.

Finally, check if the opening of the thermos is round and the lid is tight or leaking. I tested this by filling it with cold water as the hot water could burn my hands if it leaks sideways. It turned out that it doesn't leak.

— Features —

The design of the Baffect Thermal Vacuum Carafe is simple and elegant and I found a lot of cool features. Let's take a look at the appearance. It has a frosted texture, interpreting a sense of classic. The outer body is made of food-grade material, which is safe, healthy and odorless. It is also very thick and stays cool to touch safely even when filled with hot beverages.

I looked closely at the lid and found a silicone sealing ring, which prevents water leakage. This is a very clever design so that water does not leak from the side of the lid and causes burns. More importantly, when tightening the lid, it serves to heat and cold preservation. 

I only needed to give one turn to open the lid to fill the pot and to screw the lid to keep the heat. It's effortless and convenient.

The Baffect Thermal Carafe Thermos is narrow at the top and wide at the bottom. The opening of the pot is relatively small but works well with the lid coupled with the sealing ring to keep the water heat for a long time.

I can tilt the thermos to pour water with just one hand, using my thumb to press the button on the lid and the rest of my fingers to hold the handle. I think small children and the elderly can also do it conveniently.

How the water flows out of the pot matters. The spout in the shape of a bird's beak makes smoother water pouring.

I love this beautiful beech wood handle, which not only looks natural but also provides enough friction to prevent slipping when pouring water.

The handle feels comfortable to hold, and the mechanical angle design makes it easy to pour water. 

The non-slip base is designed to prevent the pot from falling off when it's wet. I used to be worried that my son would hit the table while he was running around and made the pot slide down to hurt himself. However, the pot won't slide easily because the bottom of the pot is non-slip, making it safe for families with little children.

Overall, the designs are very practical. The next is the most important part of the  Baffect Thermal Vacuum Carafe, and also the part I am the most curious about, that is the red glass liner. Let's take a look at the special features of it.

— The unique red glass liner —

I believe that most people pay more attention to the thermal insulation performance and durability of a thermal carafe like me. As a matter of fact, heat and cold preservation of a thermal carafe is mainly dependent on the liner. The Baffect Insulated Coffee Carafe uses 6-layer insulation technology. To be more specific, other than the outermost protective shell, there are 5 component layers to make the liner - the food-grade glass liner, the insulated copper plating layer, the vacuum insulation layer, the insulated copper plating layer and the food-grade glass outer layer - and this is how it can keep beverages hot or cold for a remarkably long time.

To get a better observation of the liner, I took it out of the thermos. I noticed that the glass liner has an inner vessel and an outer vessel. What we can touch is these two food-grade glass layers. They are made of high borosilicate glass. Because of its unique chemical composition, it won’t easily shatter or crack when exposed to sudden temperature change. Likewise, the insulation effect of the glass liner is better than that of the stainless steel one as ordinary glass has lower thermal conductivity. Moreover, if the tea or coffee is placed for too long in the stainless steel pot, the tannic acid in it will corrode the stainless steel wall, which is not good for our health. 

It’s also clear, moldable, and easy to clean, making it an ideal material for glass liners. When cleaning, all it takes is a gentle long-handled brush and the liner drys easily after washing and has no odors or stains left.

The interior of the vacuum wall between the two vessels is coated with copper plating to give it heat reflecting properties. So the two red layers we see on the inner and outer vessel are actually copper coating. 

Most people know the white liner painted with silver, like my old thermos. However, there is one truth you should know: The heat dissipation of copper is less than silver, so the insulation perfomance of copper is greater than that of silver. In addition, the white liner contains the carcinogen asbestos, which can be harmful to health. That means the heat and cold preservation performance of the Baffect Thermal Carafe is better and it's really safe to use.

Finally, the vacuum insulation layer functions. The air between the two vessels is removed to create vacuum insulation, which maintains the temperature of the contents of the inner vessel. 

So that’s how the glass liner of the Baffect Insulated Coffee Carafe carefully works to achieve its well-insulated performance. Of course, its practicality and superior insulation performance bring a new experience and feeling of drinking coffee in my life.

— How my Baffect Thermal Carafe worked — 

I am a very busy clerk and I have been working from home due to the COVID-19. I used to make my coffee in a coffee cup and put it on my desk. Sometimes I would get too involved in my work and forgot to drink it. After a while, the coffee got cold. It unfortunately came to the same result even though I kept the coffee in my old thermos especially in cold winter. Cold coffee loses a lot of flavors and becomes sour, so drinking cold coffee while working ruins my mood. So terrible it is! Every time I have to spend time reboiling the water to make new coffee.

But luckily I have the Baffect Carafe Vacuum Thermos now. I get up at 8AM in the morning, make my coffee, and enjoy a delicious breakfast with it to refresh my brain. Then I pour the brewed coffee in the thermos and put it on my desk and begin to work. I can pour out a cup every time I want to drink coffee, so I can always enjoy a good cup of coffee. I often work until 5PM and my coffee is still hot from the thermos. A hot cup of coffee clears my mind and refreshes me after a long day at the computer, especially after a busy day. My wife also works at home, and we sit at the same table. The coffee pot is so large that we can both share one pot of coffee.

My son Roger is also taking online classes at home right now. He loves hot cocoa, so I'm going to order another Baffect Thermal Carafe Thermos to keep a pot of hot cocoa in his room. He can drink it whenever he's having class. The thermos is easy and safe to use, and I'm relieved that he can use it alone. 

As for making my coffee, I tried to brew with my Baffect Insulated Coffee Carafe. This is the first time I've used it to make coffee. I prepared a V60 brewer and a piece of filter paper for a great cup of coffee. Pretty simple, right?

First, I heated the water to boil and then placed the filter in the brewer. Then I filled the Baffect Insulated Coffee Carafe with boiling water to keep it hot and measured the temperature. I usually use water at 92 to 95℃ for my coffee. It will release quite deep taste elements in the coffee, such as the bitter-sweetness of caramel at this temperature, which may change to a smoky flavor. I really love it!

I put the brewer on top of the coffee cup and preheated and rinsed the filter to get all the paper taste out.

Then I put the grounds in the brewer and shook it around to make it flat. I poured water slowly from the pretty center in a circle to the edge. The beak-shaped spout of the Baffect Thermal Carafe made the water flow very thin, and I found a good way that I can control the flow rate of the water by controlling the tilt angle of it. I finished it with a gentle stir, and this got the grounds off the bed so that they were all extracted. I got a wonderful cup of coffee!

My wife and I had two cups of coffee in the morning. Paired with a freshly baked cake, it energized the whole afternoon.

Speaking of coffee, I can't remember when I first started drinking coffee, but it has naturally become a part of my life and that of most people. Coffee is as much a part of American culture as blue jeans and rock-n-roll. I love coffee from the bottom with all my heart, and I enjoy the original taste of coffee as it brings me enjoyment and pleasure, especially in my busy work and life. Almost every household has a coffee routine, and the Baffect Insulated Coffee Carafe has become an indispensable helper in my daily life.

In general, the Baffect Thermal Coffee Carafe looks simple but beautiful and matches all kinds of home decor style well. More importantly, it has good thermal insulation performance and can keep coffee and other beverages warm or cold for a long time. It is easy to use, safe, and hygienic. It's my best coffee mate! It is worth recommending to you guys.
