Reviews: Baffect 4 Gallon Dog Proof Slim Trash Can with Press Type Lid
Recently one more member joined our family, a six-month-old Labrador. His name is Tiger. And his coming brought us a lot of joyfulness but also some problems. One of the problems was that the used tissues were hooked out from the trash can and even some of them were eaten by him, which became the top urgent thing that needed to be dealt with. Thus I was looking for a trash can that could stop the dog digging through it. And for some other reasons, I also needed the waste basket that could be tucked into the narrow spaces and also could help with the garbage sorting.

Today I bring you a fantastic trash can which is dog-proof, handy and slender. First of all, let’s get to know something about its details.

This product is called Baffect 4 Gallon Dog Proof Slim Trash Can with Press Type Lid. This trash can is made of ABS and Polypropylene. The white part is ABS and the black part is Polypropylene. And the color of it comes in white only, but the black belt showing in the middle of the trash can makes it look elegant and not dull.
On the cover part of this trash can, there is a lid that can be easily opened or closed by lightly pushing the button beside the lid.
When we open the cover of the trash can after we receive it, we can find a curving white plastic piece with two holes on both ends, a little PP bag with two fasteners, a piece of lavender scented tablet in a small bag and two rolls of black plastic garbage bags in the trash bucket. Looking at the white piece and two fasteners, it is not hard for us to figure out that the white piece should be the handle of the trash can and the handle can be fixed on the trash bucket with the two fasteners. What's the lavender scented tablet for? To incense the trash can? I guess so.
Installing the handle or not is at our disposal. If we want to install the handle, we just need to place the handle in the right point and push the two fasteners into the holes both on the handle and on the trash bucket. It takes me less than 1 minute to fix the handle on. It’s so easy.
The dimension of this trash can is 32x15.5x30.5cm (12.6x6.1x12in), and the capacity of it is 15L (4 gallons). This trash can is with a slim body but large capacity.
If we install the handle, the dimension of the trash can changes to 33x18x30.5cm (13x7.09x12in).

Let's take a whole look of this trash can. Touching and pressing this trash can, we can find that the ABS and PP materials are durable and thick, and the ABS material with good resistance to impact and abrasion is not fragile, not easy to deform and water-proof. The appearance of this trash can is slippy and sleek. When we see it at the first sight, we will think that it is a well-made trash can.
And the slim rectangular design with rounded corners helps this trash basket to be tucked into narrow spaces. I can put one trash bin in any narrow spaces like the gap beween the desk and wall or the gap between our toilet and the glass separator. Thus the narrow spaces can be well taken use of and the garbage basket can be stored neatly and secretly meanwhile.
Here comes the most important feature of this trash can: the trash can equips with a cover. With this cover, the bad smell can be locked. Furthermore, our dog pet hunting through the trash bin can also be stopped. This is the most important need when I choose a new trash bin this time.
On the cover, the vital design that keeps the dog away is the press type lid. With pressing the button on the side ring of the cover, the lid will spring up instantly as there are two torsional springs connecting the lid to the cover. And the lid can be closed smoothly also by pushing down the lid and pressing the button at the same time. I have tried many times to press to open and close the lid, and there are not any stuck situations at all. It seems that the open and close device is not so easy to damage. I think that this design of open and close device should be hard for my dog to figure out the way how to open it.
After we open the lid, we will find a meticulous design under the lid. A round piece with some small holes attaches to the lid. If I haven’t read the description on the website, I can’t figure out what this device is for. Can you guess it? You may have no idea of it like me. Aha, let me reveal it for you. It is a device to store the scented piece to keep the trash can not smelly. I have tried this, it really works.
Taking off the cover of this trash can, we can see that there is one hole on each lateral side. When we put a garbage bag in this trash can, we can pack the excrescent part of the garbage bag into the holes and then cover the cover of the trash can, the garbage bag can be totally concealed. Wow, I don't need to see the unsightly exposed garbage bags any more using this trash can.
In the middle edge of the trash bin, there is a groove on each broadside.
With the two grooves, we can put two garbage bags in the trash bin to store different rubbish for garbage sorting. That’s cool and convenient. I put a trash can with two garbage bags in our living room as it helps with our garbage sorting. Of course, we can put only one garbage bag in it.
Furthermore, a removable handle is designed for this trash can. With this handle, it must be very convenient for us to move the trash can. If the space is too narrow for the additional handle, we can choose to leave it uninstalled or just remove it.
This trash bin is slim, neat, and dog-proof. We can apply it in different places like living room, bathroom, bedroom and kitchen at home. But for me, I would prefer a trash bin with a pedal in the kitchen, as I don’t want to bend down and use my hand making the dishes to push the button to open the trash can. In other rooms with several unused narrow spaces, I would like to use this Baffect Slim Dog-proof Trash Can. Besides home use, this trash basket can also be used in the office.
-Why Dogs Like to Dig Through The Trash Can-
For me, I bought three of this Baffect Dog-proof Trash Cans for home use and mainly for keeping my dog Tiger away from the garbage bins. He really likes to dig through our old trash cans in almost the whole house especailly the one in the bathroom. This phenomena forces me to find out the reasons why the dogs like to hook out the trash and rive and eat the used tissues and the ways how to stop it.
The main reasons can be as below:
No.1 Because of the old hunting instincts, dogs think that digging through the trash can and eating tissues are fun.
No.2 Our dog is boring as we are not playing with him or her.
No.3 Our dog is anxious because of the separation anxiety when he or she is left alone.
No.4 Our dog may experience a teething pain, he or she needs to chew something like tissues to relieve the discomfort.
No.5 Nutritional deficiencies or an insufficient diet can lead to our dog eating objects which are not food. Trash and tissues are easily accessed to in many houses.
No.6 Our dog may get pica. Pica is a condition characterized by the consumption of non-food items and can be caused by underlying behavioral or medical problems.
No.7 Just because the tissues are used to wipe something like bacon grease that our dog really loves.
Hunting through the trash can and eating the used tissues or something else in the trash can may cause healthy problems to our dog. The biggest concern associated with eating used tissues is intestinal blockage. Dogs can also develop digestive irritation, but this condition is usually self-limited and the clinical manifestation lasts only until the ingested tissues are fully digested or eliminated via the poop. In some situations, eating tissues can be lethal. This can occur if a small dog eats large amounts of tissues or if it does not receive prompt treatment and the tissues cause intestinal blockage.
Our dog hooks out the trash and rives and eats used tissues from the trash baskets, which not only causes us huge tasks to clean the house but also affects his or her health. We should find ways to stop it. Training takes a very long time and we don’t know when it will work. Buying a dog-proof trash can may be a quick way to realize it.
-Different Using Occasions-
Before I bought the Baffect 4 Gallon Dog Proof Slim Trash Can with Press Type Lid, the trash bins in our home were round and the lid of which could be opened with a pedal and the garbage bag was exposed. Tiger was so smart that he figured out how to open the trash bin within only one week. Since he knew how to open the trash bins, the rubbish was often hooked out and the used tissues were torn up and even eaten by him when he was left home alone or he stayed alone in one room. I sometimes was nearly driven to crazy by the chaotic scene. And also I was worried about that Tiger would get sick after eating used tissues or other strange things. Changing the trash can became a task of me without any delay.
I purchased three Baffect 4 Gallon Dog Proof Slim Trash Cans with Press Type Lid for our home. And I received the trash cans 3 days after I placed the order. One was put in my bathroom, one was in my bedroom and the last one was put in the living room. In different rooms, this trash can solved different problems for us.
As our bathroom is a little bit narrow, there is not much room beside our toilet. The round trash bin with a pedal we used before could only be placed in front of the low cabinet next to our toilet. However, it was very inconvenient to walk through or use the cabinet. And we needed to kick away the trash can when we wanted to open the cabinet door to get something in it. Furthermore, Tiger was mostly fond of digging through the trash bin in the bathroom after he unlocked how to open the pedal trash basket.
On a weekend, our families went on a short journey from Saturday morning and Tiger was left home because the hotel we stayed would not let Tiger in. Before we came back home on the second day, we bought a gift for Tiger to pacificate him. We were happy until I saw the disgusting bathroom with the rubbish on the floor that we forgot to take out and many of his footprints here and there. Oh no, it was really a disaster. It took me more than one hour to clean the bathroom and all his footprints.

For refreshing the smell of the garbage bin, I opened the bag of lavender scented tablet and put it into the small device on the lid. With pressing the button lightly and the lid was opened, the smell of the trash can was not so bad since then, even when some feminine products were put in it.
With this trash can being placed in our bathroom, Tiger hadn’t ever opened the lid and dug through the garbage again. And I would not be afraid of the shaved beard, cut nails, dental floss and the feminine products etc. scattering on the floor. This trash can saved not only my time to clean but also the space of the bathroom, because it could take good use of the narrow space. We didn't have to move it away when we needed to open the cabinet. And when we used the toilet and finished, we didn't need to face the embarrassing situation when we used the garbage basket with a pedal. We could throw the rubbish with a light press to open the lid without dirtying our hand. This trash can fitted our bathroom perfectly, I loved it so much.
In the bedroom, the Baffect Trash Can was put beside our nightstand or sometimes under my desk, and I installed the handle on this trash can. If we wanted to move it, the handle would make it much more convenient to do so. It was very expedient to throw the trash when I was on the bed or sat beside my desk, just bent down and lightly pressed the button and then threw the trash in. The trash can kept my hand tidy and sealed the smell in and veiled the garbage bag. In this way, the trash can kept my room neat. This trash seemed like to be manufactured for my bedroom.
And the last one was put in our living room beside the coffee table. As we often threw some plastic beverage bottles or other recyclable waste in the living room’s trash basket, I put two different colors of garbage bags in it. The black one was for the trash and the red one was for the recyclable waste. Each one was lined from the middle groove to the lateral side and the superfluous part of the garbage bags was inserted into the holes on the lateral sides. Thus the indelicate bags could be totally ensconced when we put on the cover of the trash can and the smell were also sealed at the same time. When my families sat on the sofa, it was very easy and convenient to throw the waste in no matter it was trash or recyclable waste. So handy, I really like it.
After the three Baffect Trash Cans were placed in the rooms, Tiger stopped sauntering around the trash cans as no smell that he was keen on came out from the trash cans and he didn’t know how to open them. Besides, the trash cans were very easy to clean, and I just needed to mop them up with a cleaning cloth once a week.
