Reviews: The Most Space-saving Corner Shelves Ever Review
These corner shelves are so great for small spaces or corners that would otherwise otherwise go unused. They bring corners to life and are easy to install.
Hi, everyone. It’s Lisa from the Baffect team. Welcome back to our website. Baffect household products are compatible with IKEA. Plus, the quality of them is pretty much the same as IKEA as well.
What we have here today is these wonderful floating corner shelves. So I’m going to be unboxing and reviewing the product.
— Product details —
This product is called Baffect Corner Floating Shelves.
I already went ahead and took them out of the package, so I can show you guys what’s inside here. It is a huge package, which includes not only 3 shelves, but also this cute little package of hardware and an instruction booklet.
This three piece set of floating corner shelves come in two sizes: small and large. Likewise, there are two options for choosing the size when you purchase this, so make sure you select the correct size you need.
The larger shelves have a radius of approximately 9.7 in or 25 cm.
The radius of the smaller shelves is around 7.7 in or 20 cm.
Both of these shelves are about 0.5 in or 1.2 cm thick.
I have done a little bit of research. So the building material is MDF or medium density fibreboard, which is a type of board made from very small pieces of wood that have been pressed and stuck together. It can be used for making furniture.
They come in white only, but it should blend in with most walls. I think that’s why they chose this colour.
When you open up the little package, you’ll see they’re going to give you the easy installation hardware such as the screws, the small L brackets and the plastic anchors and also a handy bubble level.
Sometimes when you buy some household products, you may find that the instructions aren’t that clear, but this looks pretty good. And the instructions say to check to make sure your corner is 90 degrees before purchase. Just remember that.
So that’s literally what you get. Basically you’ve got the floating corner shelves complete with really clear instructions, the easy installation hardware and a handy level.
— Features —
Thanks to their space-saving design, Baffect Corner Floating Shelves maximize unused corner space. In addition to that, they are sturdy and look great.
I wanted some corner shelves for the corner of this guestroom wall just as we walk in the door. I’d like to add some floating shelves to take advantage of this space, which would otherwise serve no purpose. With the needed space for the door to open, that area is too small for a regular set of bookshelves or a chair, so we figured a set of corner shelves would be a nice alternative where we could put a few things like a potted plant or some books or a figurine.
About two weeks ago, my bestie, Kia, paid me a visit and recommended these floating corner shelves to me as her family were able to find a space to mount them and they worked for their space and the corners in their house. Fortunately, these shelves just ended up working out great for this corner. They create space-saving vertical storage and give me the extra storage I’ve been looking for. The white color on these is pretty simple but doesn’t look cheap.
I actually bought 2 sets of these shelves, the large ones and the small ones. As I’ve shown you guys, the large shelves were for the guestroom corner. As for the small ones, they are for our baby’s room corner. When selecting some floating shelves for the baby’s nursery corner, I did consider my own personal needs and aesthetic. I believe the baby’s room is not just for baby. You’ll be spending lots of time in there as well and you should feel comfortable and enjoy the room more than even your little one. I thought you might like to see how these shelves get installed, so I’ll show you how I installed them in this corner in a moment.
In addition, due to the ultralight MDF plate (ULDF) of this product, they appear to be made from real wood, but at the same time, they are a lot lighter than they look. And not only that, but also they do feel sturdy.
Besides, they do come with everything needed to hang on the wall. There are four separate small L brackets as opposed to a single bracket to hang the shelf on and as long as the brackets are put on properly, they should hold up a good amount of weight, so I have zero worries about them falling down. There’s just one minor thing that I can nitpick about here. This kit comes with the black metal brackets that are a bit visible. However, you can paint them white so that they can blend in nicely.
And then, if you have a spare corner or even an odd corner, you can get these fit there and put a few knick-nacks on each one. For instance, you can display your favorite photos, figurines, a potted plant, some books and more with these beautiful corner wall shelves.
Last but not least, the size of the gap between two shelves is not set in stone, as you may need to adjust it for whatever your storage needs. I left a gap of about 7.75 inches between two shelves, but you may make the gap wider if you want.
— How to install them —
All right. Now that we got the design specs out of the way, I’m going to show you guys how I installed these awesome floating shelves in the baby’s room corner. Before we go any further, of course, you’ll need a couple of other simple hand tools. You will need a Phillips head screwdriver, pencil, electric drill and hammer.
And to start this off, I figured out where I wanted to drill the four holes on the shelf. Then, I set four little brackets in place on three corners of the shelf as instructed and marked where the four holes were with a pencil.
Make sure you place two brackets on both sides of the right angle at least 1.25 in or 3 cm away from that angle so that they won’t overlap each other.
Also, if two brackets are on the same side, they must be parallel to the side. That way, the side is going to be flush with the wall.
So I got the drill. I went ahead and drilled the four holes where I marked right over here. You got to be real careful not to over-drill here because then you’ll end up just boring out the hole.
After that, I was able to set four little brackets back into place and attach them permanently with the screws.
The next step is to then fit the shelf in the corner you’d like and make sure it’s leveled. I did this by putting the bubble level on the shelf and checking the level. Again, with a pencil, I marked where the four holes were on the wall.
Once I had them all marked, I drilled the four holes where I marked.
Next, it was time for the hammer task. I used a hammer to fully insert the anchor plugs in the wall.
Finally, I aligned the shelf with the anchor plugs and screwed the screws into the anchor plugs. And I think the idea is that the screw is just a little bit wider than the plug and it makes the plug expand into the wall in order to increase compressions.
And then, I just repeated the same exact steps for all of the other shelves.
And this is our final outcome. All this corner did before was collect dust, but now look at it. We’ve got some corner floating shelves that hold some children’s books there. They’re perfect for holding these books. I can’t be more pleased! Now when you walk into the baby’s room, the first thing you will see is these floating corner shelves. These are a bookshelf area, something that would fit and also display my little boy’s books really nicely. I think that books are obviously educational and important, but I also think that they add a lot of fun color. So I think this is just like a clean and simple way to hold and display his books.
So overall, these shelves were pretty easy to install. It was easy as pie.
— Summary —
All in all, Baffect Corner Floating Shelves are the most space-saving corner shelves that I’ve ever seen. I think the best thing about them is that we’re taking advantage of some space, which would have otherwise been unused and wasted. Plus, the shelves are perfect for adding decorative touches or books to your space, so they can really help bring some of our character and our design into the corners. Furthermore, all the hardware and instructions are included and these shelves were super easy to install. They are also very sturdy and fit in our baby’s room corner and guestroom corner perfectly. I love these floating corner shelves!
